Recent research has shown that employers are less likely to recruit individuals who use underscores or “cute” words in their email addresses.
The research undertaken by the Department of Social and Organisational Psychology at VU University, Amsterdam found that people who used informal addresses were consider less likely to be hired, but where they came across as conscientious or humble their chances of being employed improved.
The results show that recruiters do indeed assess the hirability of an applicant with a rCV featuring a formal email address higher than that of an applicant with a CV featuring an informal email address,This detrimental effect was on par with that caused by spelling errors.
